Sideshow & Tell – One Year Anniversary Episode!

Hello the internet! This is episode 52 of Sideshow & Tell, your mini newscast, which marks the show’s one year anniversary! For this special occasion we’re doing something a little different, joining your host Ian Crabb for today’s unscripted SAT is Sideshow godfather Will Dodson!

In this week’s SAT, the duo inform you all of the latest film and television music releases including a special 2-disc extended release of The Rocketeer by James Horner, from Intrada Records, The Huntsman: Winter’s War by James Newton Howard, and X-Men: First Class by Henry Jackman on limited edition vinyl from Music On Vinyl, Suicide Squad by Steven Price, from Sony Classical, Ice Age: Collision Course by John Debney, from Varèse Sarabande, and finally, Supergirl by Blake Neely, from La-La Land Records. Ian also brings us the news that composer Cliff Martinez is scoring James Mangold’s currently untitled Wolverine sequel, and composer Rob Simonsen is to score Marc Webb’s drama, ‘Gifted’. Ian’s pick of the week comes from the wonderful team over at WaterTower Music and to finish up this week’s SAT we let you all in on what exactly has been happening over the last few months at Sideshow HQ and what glorious content is on the way!

Welcome Sideshowsters to episode 45 of SAT, your regular film music newscast presented by Ian Crabb! In this week’s newscast, “the amazing one” discusses the latest film music releases including first, on 2-disc vinyl, Star Wars: The Force Awakens by John Williams, and Alice Through the Looking Glass by Danny Elfman, from Walt Disney Records, source music from The Nice Guys from Lakeshore Records and a 2-disc vinyl from iam8it, and finally, Hollywood in Vienna: The World of James Horner, on Blu-Ray, from Varèse Sarabande. Ian also brings us the news that Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have composed the music for the upcoming heist thriller ‘Hell or High Water’, and composer Michael Giacchino has announced on Twitter that he’s scoring the upcoming Marvel movie ‘Doctor Strange’. Ian finishes this week’s SAT with a very cool 2-disc limited edition pick of the week from the fantastic team over at La-La Land Records!

Finally, this week the film music community was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of film composer James Horner. We end the news with our thoughts on James Horner, as well as some words from our listeners and what his music meant to all of us. James has left us with an incredible musical legacy and helped inspire many of us in the Sideshow camp to become film composers ourselves and appreciate film music for the skilled craft it is.

Thank you for all you´ve given us James. You will be missed but not forgotten.
